What time do you need to be at the park to rope drop Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railroad?

Disney just opened its newest attraction – Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railroad! This ride is in the Chinese Theater at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, and replaced the Great Movie Ride. With the addition of this new ride and Galaxy’s Edge, the crowds can get crazy at the park. So, how early do you really need to get to the park? Not as early as you might think.

It’s Friday, March 6th and Hollywood Studios opens at 8 am. Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railroad officially opened two days ago. We got to the park at 5:45 am. Bag check wasn’t open yet, and there were less than 50 people at the park.

At 6 am, bag check opened. We went to wait at the front gates, and were second in line. It’s now almost 6:30 and the front courtyard isn’t full yet. If someone was to arrive now, they would have be about 15 people deep in the line. For a family trying to minimize wait times, (and also get a boarding pass for Rise of the Resistance), I would recommend arriving at 6:20! You’ll beat the crowds coming for 6:30, but still not have to wait too long!

5:40 Arrive at parking

5:45 Walk to bag check and wait

6:00 Get through bag check

6:30 Waiting for the park to open, the cast members said it will open at 7 (officially hours are an 8 am park opening)

7:00 Through the gates and into the park!
