Coming Soon to Disney Springs – The Edison

The Edison is a new Disney lounge themed after a 1920’s-era electric company. It’s floating opening is early 2018 in Disney Springs and will offer live entertainment, contortionists, palm-readers, American food, and craft cocktails.

Now that we’ve joined the over 21 club, we love trying out new lounges at Walt Disney World and Disney Springs (a lounge is what Disney calls bars, but there’s more to them!). We have been looking forward to the opening of The Edison for months now, and rumors have it the lounge will finally be opening in early 2018!

What will it look like?

The Edison is modeled after an old 1920’s electric company. The exterior will be made of brick with a tall radio tower, and the theming on the outside will look like an old factory (notice the 1901 detail at the top).

Where is it?

The Edison will be located right next to the balloon landing at Disney Springs. It is directly across from the Saratoga Springs Resort and Spa and is located near shopping areas and other restaurants. Also being added are the “Neverland Tunnels” and other lounges next door that share the space.

Theming

The Edison will have a theme centered around a 1920s-period electric company. According to the Eater the restaurant will ‘’recall an exuberant era of invention and imagination.” The “industrial gothic” space will have 35-foot ceilings and a number of themed areas like “The Tesla Lounge,” “The Radio Room,” and “The Patent Office.” The Edison in Florida will be quite similar to its sister location in Los Angeles.

Food and Entertainment

The restaurant will serve classic American food and craft cocktails. There will be a huge variety of entertainment including DJ’s, live music, cabaret performances, palm readers, and contortionists. The Edison will be less kid-friendly than other venues at Disney Springs and looks to draw in an older crowd.

Wrapping it up!

The Mouselets cannot wait to visit The Edison! We never used to spend time at Disney Springs, but as we get older we are starting to appreciate it more and more.
