On April 22nd, Animal Kingdom celebrated its 20th anniversary! We were unable to attend, but our friend was there and sent us her pictures and told us about her experience! We’ll also share with you some of the new additions to Animal Kingdom this year!
If you’re looking to book a Disney trip (or any vacation) reach out to Main Street and More Travel! Chris is one of the best: she has years of experience, and her Disney planning services are completely free!
20th Anniversary Food
As with every anniversary celebration, Disney goes all out with the food! They had celebratory anniversary cupcakes, all of which looked absolutely delicious (and from what we heard, tasted delicious too!)
Tiffins also featured a 3-course Anniversary Chef’s Lunch Tasting Menu during the Party for the Planet. Chris attended and was able to sample a variety of foods featuring African, Asian, and South American cuisine!
Anniversary Merchandise
The merchandise for sale includes shirts, pins, magic bands, and more! The magic band is a favorite of ours.

They also have a variety of apparel including long sleeve and short sleeve shirts, tanks, and more!

New to Animal Kingdom
There are two exciting changes at Animal Kingdom. The first is the new Up show that replaced Flights of Wonder. This show now starts Russel and Doug, and is still bird based! The set is also similar with some redone art work outside. We’ve heard mixed reviews about this show, but overall the response has been positive!
The other exciting change is the new utility suit in Pandora! This is a one-of-a-kind experience, and we cannot wait to see it for ourselves! For more Pandora favorites, check out our friend Enjoying the Day’s article by clicking here!

Backstage Experiences
Also at this celebration were free backstage tours at Rafiki’s Planet Watch! The backstage experience included talks with animal experts around animal nutrition, visiting the veterinary hospital, and hearing how Disney promotes global wildlife conservation.
